BREAKING NEWS: HOW GEN Z AND THE GENERAL POPULATION FEELINGS HAVE SHIFTED
April 22, 2024
In just four days with the snowballing protests on college campuses, the General Population’s support of the Pro Palestinian protesters has skyrocketed from 38 to 51 percent with people increasingly choosing sides aligning more closely with where Gen Z was just last week. This said, there is some indication that Gen Z is disheartened as we saw an uptick in “slight disagreement” by 6.5%.
What we have found is increasingly interesting is the quick shift in feelings on reaction to current events. The General Population has become far less numb and indifferent and feel more passionate and less confused. By contrast, Gen Z doesn’t seem to feel much differently with our seeing slight upticks in their feeling passionate.
We also decided to ask the question on everybody’s minds “Do you agree that Universities should shut down Students for Justice in Palestine at universities in light of the increasing violence and threats to Jewish students on campus?”
43 % the General Population and 41% Gen Z agreed. Not surprisingly, there was fervent disagreement for 16% of Gen Z, reflecting the passion of the extremes of the conversation. That 20% remain unsure is somewhat telling and needs to be tracked as events continue to unfold.
